Oolong Tea and Hypertension

What is hypertension?

Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, is when the pressure of the blood being pumped through your arteries is much higher than it should be.

High blood pressure, or hypertension has been called the “silent killer”, because it often has no warning signs or symptoms, and many people do not even know they have it. Over time, the constant pressure overload causes serious damage that eventually becomes more than your circulatory system can handle, often leading to serious health problems.

Oolong Tea Reduces Risk of Hypertension

According to a study of more than 1,500 patients, a half cup to two and a half cups daily of oolong tea or the more famous green tea can lower a person’s risk of hypertension by 46 per cent. Oolong and green tea are rich in antioxidants that help control an enzyme that raises blood pressure.
